Karachi: ST men held for street crimes
KARACHI: The Crime Investigation Department (CID) police have arrested four workers of the Sunni Tehreek (ST) for allegedly being involved in street crimes. The men, identified as Nadir, Akhtar, Akmal and Ali Nawaz, were arrested from Vita Chowrangi, Korangi, said DSP Mazhar Mashwani Wednesday, after what the police said was a brief encounter.
One stolen car (H-6168), four pistols and mobile phones were allegedly recovered from their possession. The DSP said three motorcycles in their possession are being checked. The car was stolen from the jurisdiction of New Town police station. ST spokesman Tariq Mughal confirmed the arrested men were party workers but denied the allegations. “We will go with the police if they prove a single allegation,” he said. “They are innocent and have been arrested because the police is obeying the instructions of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement.”
