Karachi: Bail in govt land scam case
KARACHI: The Sindh High Court allowed on Monday protective bail to three co-accused of illegally occupying and selling hundreds of acres of State land at throwaway prices using alleged forged title documents under the protection of former Sindh Minister Imtiaz Shaikh and his brother Maqbool Shaikh.
Syed Barkat Ali, Nadeem Khokhar and Mir Khan anticipated arrest and moved the bail pleas on the grounds of consistency, as the Shaikh brothers, the main accused in the case, have already been granted bail. Justice Syed Mahmood Alam Rizvi granted pre-arrest bail till August 28 and directed them to surrender before the provincial Anti-Corruption Court. The SHC Chief Justice dismissed their previous bail plea since there was no counsel present to represent them.
