Rawalpindi: ATC extends remand of terror suspect
RAWALPINDI: Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) on Wednesday extended judicial remand of a suspected terrorist for 14 days and adjourned the hearing until August 27. The terror suspect, Umar Adeel, was arrested by RA Bazaar police for his alleged involvement in a suicide bomb attack last year. He was produced before the court after expiry of 14-day judicial remand.
The court extended the remand for 14 days and adjourned the case until August 27. The suspect was brought to the court amid tight security in an armoured personnel career. Elite force personnel guarded the courtroom. The reporters were not allowed to cover the court proceedings. Later police shifted him to Adiala Jail for further investigation.
Court summons SHO for not registering case Additional District and Sessions Judge Abdul Rehman Awan on Wednesday directed Sadiqabad Police Station House Officer (SHO) Malik Muhammad Yousaf Station to appear before the court on August 25 and submit his comments on an application against Yousaf, City Police Officer (CPO) Rao Muhammad Iqbal and Sadiqabad Assistant Sub Inspector Shafqat.
Raja Seek-ur-Rehman filed an application with the court pleading that ASI Shafqat was harassing and humiliating him and his family members including women. Rehman said he had filed an application against Abdullah who had beat his brother and him on August 5, but Sadiqabad police refused to register First Information Report (FIR). He said later he lodged a complaint with the CPO on August 9 against the ASI who was harassing him and his family members but no action was taken.
He prayed the court to direct CPO and SHO to stop ASI from harassing him. The court has directed the SHO to appear before the court on August 25 to file his comments.
