Karachi: 2 killed while resisting robberies
KARACHI: Armed men looted cash and mobile phones and killed two people on resistance within the limits of two different police stations on Thursday. Three armed men barged into a local mobile phone shop near Jinnah Avenue in the Model Colony police limits. At gunpoint, they ordered the owner of the shop, 24–year–old Asim Ikram, to hand over all the cash and mobile phones. When Ikram resisted, the robbers shot at him and fled with the booty.
Owners of shops in the area, after hearing the shots, rushed to the spot and saw Ikram in pool of blood. They immediately informed the police and took the victim to private clinic. Ikram was in critical condition, and died during treatment. His body was later shifted to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC) for legal formalities.
The police said that the victim’s sister nominated a man called Tariq Mahmood in the murder cases. In a separate incident, armed men on a motorcycle intercepted 25–year–old Kalam Hussain near Al–Asif Square in the Sachchal police jurisdiction. The men ordered him to hand over his mobile phone and all his cash at gunpoint. When Hussain resisted, the robbers shot at him and fled, leaving him dead.
