Khairpur: Court sends police official to jail
KHAIRPUR: The court of the Third Additional Sessions judge sent a police officer to jail here on Friday. In a rape case, the court was asking the police officer to appear before it but Akhtar Vesser was not attending the court without any explanation. When he appeared before the court on Friday, the additional sessions judge ordered to send him to jail.
Meanwhile, the same court, in a case of robbery, sentenced accused Sharif Ansari to 10-year imprisonment besides imposing a fine of Rs 80,000. Meanwhile, the DCO Khairpur, on the directives of the chief minister, Sindh, asked the magistrates on Friday to arrest the hoarders of fertiliser in the district. DCO Muhammad Iqbal Memon held a meeting of fertiliser dealers and other officials, asking the magistrates to take action against dealers creating an artificial shortage of fertilisers. The DCO told the meeting that he was informed by the statistical officer that urea was present in sufficient quantity with the dealers to meet the demands of growers.
