Karachi: Classical singer shot dead
KARACHI: A classical singer was shot dead on Monday by her former housemaid within the jurisdiction of Darakshan Police Station. Forty–year–old Naheed Gohar was killed at her bungalow on Khayaban–e-Shamsheer. Her body was taken to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Center (JPMC) from where her family took the body away after legal formalities.
Quoting Gohar’s female housemaid, Sobia, DSP Chaudhry Sohail Faiz told Daily Times that the deceased was a classical singer. Adeel, Gohar’s former housemaid, along with two associates, came to her house and fired at her. The three then fled. The deceased was the mother of one child and her husband has been ill for a long time. The cause of the incident is unknown. No FIR was registered till the filing of this report.
In other news, according to an official handout issued by the MQM, Dr Aftab Warsi, father of the late Aslam Warsi, an MQM Malir Sector member, was shot dead by unidentified armed men near his house at Shadman Town, Malir Colony. Dr Warsi died on the spot. The two men shot him after snatching his motorcycle. The MQM Rabita Committee has condemned the incident and appealed to the government to arrest the culprits. No official concerned confirmed the incident when contacted.
