Lahore: 2 injured in dacoity bid
LAHORE: A security guard of the National Bank of Pakistan (NBP) and a cashier of a private beverage company were shot injured when they offered resistance to four dacoits during a dacoity bid on Tuesday. According to a press release, the cashier was on way to the bank to deposit a sum of Rs 3.5 million. As he reached outside the bank, four unidentified robbers intercepted him and tried to snatch the cash.
Meanwhile, a patrolling team of Nawankot police arrived there. On seeing the police, the dacoits opened indiscriminate fire which led to an encounter. As a result, the cashier and the security guard were injured.
The dacoits escaped from the scene without looting success. On the other hand, an Edhi official said that the locals had caught one of the robbers and handed him over to the police. However, the official handout did not mention any arrest, stating the dacoits managed to escape from the crime scene.
