Lahore: Suicide bid by woman foiled
LAHORE: Two rickshaw drivers foiled a suicide attempt of a 25–year–old woman along with her five-year-old daughter at Ravi Bridge on Thursday. The victims, identified as Naseem Bibi, 25, wife of Shabir, resident of Match Factory, G.T Road, Shahdra, belonged to an impoverished family. She was disheartened over her poor financial conditions as she was unable to feed her five-year-old daughter namely Zoya.
On Thursday noon, Naseem Bibi took her daughter Zoya to Ravi Bridge and first threw her daughter into Ravi River and later attempted to jump into the river. In the meantime, a rickshaw driver reached there and he jumped into the water and saved the minor girl. Another rickshaw driver foiled the suicide attempt of Naseem Bibi by pushing her back from the bridge. Rescue 1122 reached the spot, provided first aid to the victims and shifted them to their home.
