Peshawar: 4 suspected militants held in Darra
PESHAWAR: Security forces Thursday arrested four suspected militants in restive Darra Adamkhel town, some 40 kilometers south from here, and shifted them to unknown location. Sources told The News the militants were on their way to Darra Adamkhel from Adezai area, when the security forces intercepted their vehicle near Speena Thana for routine checking and arrested them.
One of the arrested militants was identified as Ajmal, a local commander, while the identity of the rest could not be ascertained, the sources said. After the arrest of their fellows, the local militants increased their patrolling in the guns–manufacturing town. However, no untoward incident was reported. Covered their faced with masks, wearing jackets and equipped with sophisticated weapons, the militants were seen roaming in the bazaar on motorbikes and in double cabin pick-ups.
In the evening some shots of firing were also heard, but nothing serious was reported. Tribal sources said the security forces have been deployed on the hilltops around the semi-tribal valley. The miscreants in order to tease them fire shots in their direction and in return, they resort to massive shelling, the sources said. “This routine has been going on for the past several months,” they added.
