Rawalpindi: Police recover kidnapped minor girl
RAWALPINDI: The police Monday recovered a 4-years-old girl from Takht Bahi, Mardan, who was kidnapped for ransom from Chaklala Scheme III while on her way to home from school and also arrested the main characters behind the kidnapping episode including the governess of the baby.
Addressing a press conference here, City Police Officer Rao Muhammad Iqbal said that Rania, daughter of Muhammad Ali Khan, was kidnapped when she was coming from school with her governess on August 27 at 3.25 p.m.
He said initially the family of the minor avoided to inform the police and tried to get the baby released by paying ransom. But the captors were not ready to bargain and refused to get even a penny less than Rs20 million whereas it was impossible for the family to arrange such a huge amount.
Upon receiving the complaint, the SP (Investigation) took up the case and the investigating team found governess Shamim involved in the kidnapping case. However, she revealed the identification of main characters of the kidnapping episode. The police later arrested former driver of the family, Ghuncha Gul and his nephew Aitbaar Khan from Dhoke Hassu who revealed that Rania was in the captivity of Sartaj Khan in Takht Bahi, he said.
A team was sent to Takht Bahi that recovered the baby from the tipped-off place with the help of Mardan Police. Rao said that it was a racket of kidnappers, which was scattered in various areas of the NWFP including Mardan, Warsik, Bannu and different tribal areas.
He said that Rawalpindi Police also arrested a six-member gang involved in a dacoity of Rs20 million and managed to recover Rs4 million so far. The incident of looting was occurred on August 18 when cashier of a money exchanger company, Sikandar Hayat, was heading towards Dhudial (AJK) along with three armed guards by the company’s car (LEA–9123) when gunmen intercepted them at Kalar Road, Makiala and held them at gunpoint.
The bandits had snatched guns from guards and shifted the moneybag to their car (Suzuki Liana – SGN–5010) and sped away towards Rawat. The case was referred to SP (Investigation) and finally found cashier Sikandar Hayat, the complainant involved in the looting, Rao said.
The police later arrested Sardar Khan, Mazhar Iqbal, Shah Wali, Muhammad Ehsan and Sikandar Hayat and recovered Rs4 million from them. He said that Sikandar was mastermind who had planned the dacoity and played a role to make it easy hit for the gangsters.
