Islamabad: Gang involved in Rs 25 million robbery arrested
ISLAMABAD: Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) police have arrested six members of a gang that looted Rs 25 million jewellery and cash from Sardar Tanvir’s house in Sector F-8/4 on July 29 in a daylight, said Inspector General of Police (IGP) Syed Asgher Raza Gardazi on Tuesday. He was addressing a press conference at Rescue 15. He said police had seized Rs 0.4 million cash and ornaments from possession of the alleged gangsters.
Gardazi said ICT police had constituted two teams, one headed by Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Sarfraz Khan and other by Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Bashir Noon to investigate the robbery. He said after investigation the teams concluded that robbers’ gang led by Usama Manzer Hussain was involved in F-8/4 robbery. He said both the teams conducted raids in different areas and also visited Karachi, Lahore and Peshawar for investigation. He said police arrested six members of this gang the other day from G-9 green belt where they were planning for another robbery, he said.
Gardazi said the alleged gang members confessed their involvement in the robbery in F-8/4 and others in the twin cities of Islamabad and Rawalpindi. He said the arrested persons included Usama Manzer Hussain resident of Rawalpindi, Zulfiqar Ali resident of Rawalpindi, Ghulam Abbass resident of Hafizabad, Rohail Bhatti resident of Peshawar, Khurram Abbass, resident of Rawalpindi and Amir Rafiq resident of Rawalpindi.
