Karachi: Foreign drug peddler’s appeal dismissed
KARACHI: A bench of the Sindh High Court (SHC) dismissed the appeal of a foreigner against conviction in drug case. P.I Bahadur, a Nepali national, was sentenced to five years imprisonment with a fine of Rs.1,00,000 by the Control of Narcotics Substances Court in March 2008.
The prosecution alleged that the appellant was arrested by the anti–narcotics force on December 7, 2006, and recovered 1086 grams of heroin powder stuffed into 77 capsules that he had swallowed. The court, after hearing the arguments of the state and the appellant’s counsel and perusal of evidence of the case, dismissed the appeal but modified the sentence from 5 to 4 years.
