Kohat: 3 cops killed in clash with outlaws
KOHAT: Three policemen were killed and four others injured in exchange of fire with outlaws near Landai Kachi area here Thursday. District Police Officer Abdullah Khan told ‘The News’ a police party headed by SHO Ustarzai Jehangir Khan raided the den of a proclaimed offender, Nasrat Hussain alias Babu Mian of Landi Kachi village, and exchanged fire with the outlaws.
During the operation, the outlaws opened fired on the police party, killing ASI Muhammad Kamran of Karak, constables Azgher Mehmood of Kohat city and Musawer Shah of Sheikhan on the spot, while SHO Ustarzai Jehangir Khan, SHO Cantonment Ibraheemullah, constables Waheed Shah and Mansoor Iqbal sustained injuries.
DPO Abdullah Khan, along with the police force, reached the area and cordoned off the venue for a search operation, while the injured and bodies were brought to the District Headquarters Hospital.
SHOs Jehangir Khan and Ibraheemullah were discharged after treatment while constables Waheed Shah and Mansoor Iqbal were admitted to the hospital for serious injuries. Funeral prayers for the deceased were offered at Police Lines Kohat. The outlaws escaped the scene and some of their accomplices were also injured in the firing.
