Lahore: Rape case registered against senior govt officer
LAHORE: A rape case has been registered with a local women police station against a senior Punjab government officer and his accomplice. According to details mentioned in the FIR number 66/08 registered with the Race Course Women Police Station, a woman labourer Nasreen Bibi had launched a complaint maintaining that her acquaintance Usman on August 6 took her to a supposedly God-fearing senior officer working with the Punjab government for financial assistance. She went along with Usman to a Kottha Pind flat near Faisal Town, where she found another man waiting for them.
The awaiting man was latter recognised by her as a senior District Management Group. At gunpoint, Usman directed her to remove clothes. On her resistance, he himself forcibly declothed her in the presence of the DMG officer – posted in the Punjab after amending rules to accommodate him.
Later, both allegedly raped her repeatedly till the morning of August 7. She had also alleged that the government officer – who is in Grade–19 and has been posted for the first time in the province – gave her his official visiting card. They both threatened her of dire consequences if she would make the matter public.
The FIR had been registered on August 16 upon the orders of the Additional District and Session Judge Lahore Abdul Qayyum Khan. Moreover, she had also launched an application with the Chief Minister’s Complaint Cell seeking protection and arrest of the culprits because she had been allegedly given life threats by the DGM officer and his accomplice Usman.
According to the documents available with The Nation, Nasreen Bibi had also approached the media.
