Karachi: Fashion designer’s murder: suspects’ remand extended
KARACHI: The Civil Judge and Judicial Magistrate, South, extended on Saturday the physical remand of the two brothers in police custody till September 9 in a murder case of fashion designer Sheikh Amir Hassan. The Investigation Officer (IO) also submitted that statements of the suspects be recorded under 164. The police arrested brothers Ameer Hamza Awan and Mohammed Saad Awan on suspicion. However, the Judge remanded the suspects for three days and directed the IO to produce them in court on the next hearing date.
According to the prosecution, the bullet–riddled body of fashion designer Sheikh Amer Hasan, son of Javed Hassan, was found in the small hours of August 30 inside his house where he was living alone.
A case (FIR No. 215/08) was registered under Section 302/34 of the Pakistan Penal code at the Clifton Police station on the complaint of the deceased’s brother, Jalal Hasan. The FIR was registered against unknown culprits.
The suspects were traced through the deceased’s cell phone records and were arrested by the police.
The police said that they had also recorded the statements and took the fingerprints of the servants and friends of Sheikh Amir.
