Islamabad: Gang of mobile phone snatchers busted
ISLAMABAD: The Sabzi Mandi Police Monday arrested a three-member gang and recovered 34 mobile phone sets from them, police said. Making a headway to the racket involved in street crime, police took into custody three members of the gang, identified as Muhammad Tauqir, resident of House no. 405, Sector I-10/1, Islamabad; Muhammad Imtiaz, resident of House no. 432/2B, Sector III, Khayaban-e–Sir Syed, Rawalpindi; and Muhammad Nabeel, resident of House no. 438, Street 22, I-10/4, Islamabad. As many as 34 mobile phone sets and three pistols were recovered from their possession.
During preliminary investigation, the arrested persons disclosed the identity of two other members of the gang, Habib and Sajid. They said that the five-member gang used to commit crime in various localities of Rawalpindi and Islamabad, including Sabzi Mandi, Industrial Area, New Town and Pirwadhai. They said that they used to get motorbikes from a showroom to snatch mobile phone sets and cash from pedestrians at gunpoint. Acting SSP (Islamabad) Dr. Moeen Masood has issued orders to all SHOs to intensify the ongoing drive against street crime.
