Rawalpindi: Court extends remand of terror suspects
RAWALPINDI: Anti Terrorism Court No II on Monday extended for 14 days remand of three suspected terrorists. The suspects were arrested by Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) for their alleged involvement in plotting an attack on the office of senior superintendent of police (SSP) and the district courts. Judge Sakhi Muhammad Kahoot sent Khurum Ishtiaq, a resident of Muslim Town, Ghulam Mustafa, a resident of Kallar Syedian, and Shamim Alam, a resident of South Waziristan Agency, to Adiala Jail for 14 more days after completion of their six–day remand. They were arrested on August 24. An FIA team also recovered explosives from their custody. According to FIA, they have links with a terrorist network.
FIA Crime Circle Assistant Director Nasrullah Gondal informed the court that investigation would take more time to complete. Upon this, the court extended the remand for 14 days. During preliminary investigations, the suspects have named Muhammad Tayyab Mehmood, Usman, Abdul Raheem, Qari Hassan, Habibullah, Sajid Dalor, Qari Saleem and Ustad as their accomplices. On the last hearing, the court issued arrest warrants for these eight people.
