Lahore: Rape of 7-year-old girl; Arrest warrants issued against doctor, 3 others
LAHORE: Additional District and Sessions Judge Qamar Ijaz on Saturday issued fresh arrest warrants against a doctor and three prosecution witnesses for not recording their statements in a rape case of a seven–year–old girl. According to the prosecution, Z, on March 11, sexually assaulted T with the help of three others. In a previous hearing, the court had issued warrants against Muridke Tehsil Headquarters Hospital’s Dr Abid, the Narang Mandi police sub–inspector (investigation) and the moharrar.
The sub–inspector appeared before the court on Saturday, but his statement could not be recorded due to the absence of Z’s counsel. The court has already recorded the statements of five witnesses, including T, a female doctor who medically examined T and the victim’s mother.
A panel comprising Free Legal Assistance and Settlement Chairman Sheikh Anis AA Saadi, Mirza Akhtar Ali, Mian Bashir Saif and Imran Ali is contesting the case in a volunteer capacity.
