Lahore: Teenage girl kills elder brother in revenge for robbing lover
LAHORE: A teenage girl killed her elder brother on Monday in revenge for an armed robbery that he had committed at her lover’s residence about a month ago. Sheikh Abbas Waheed (aged between 25 and 28), resident of Montgomery Road, Qila Gujjar Singh was found bleeding at his home after being shot in the head. Although he was rushed to the Mayo Hospital for immediate treatment, it was too late and he succumbed to his injuries. The police transferred Waheed’s body to the city morgue for an autopsy and started investigations into the matter.
Missing: Qila Gujjar Singh Station House Officer (SHO) Sub–Inspector Tahir said that the victim’s family told them that some unidentified persons had killed Waheed for unknown reasons. He said that the police, with Waheed’s family’s help, came to know that Rs 450,000 and gold ornaments worth about Rs 950,000 were also missing from the house. However, he said it was revealed during investigations that the deceased’s sister (Sidra) was missing from the scene. He said that the police learnt that Sidra had been having an affair with one Usman, adding that the police traced Sidra’s cellular phone and arrested the couple from Naseerabad Police precinct, while they were trying to elope.
Locals of the area claimed that Sidra wanted to marry Usman but Waheed was against this. They also alleged that Waheed used to stop her from meeting Usman, but she had never paid any attention to him.
Claim: While in police custody, Sidra confessed to her crime and said that she had killed her brother in revenge because he had robbed Usman’s house of Rs 450,000 about a month ago. She also alleged that her brother had tried to kill Usman by setting his house on fire a few months ago. She alleged that Waheed had beaten Usman up with his friends to stop him from seeing her. Usman told police that he had nothing to do with the matter, adding that Sidra had asked him to elope and he had merely agreed.
