Karachi: Bank heist: accused’s father granted bail
KARACHI: Judicial Magistrate (South) Khawaja Ashraf Hussain granted bail to the father of main accused, Zarwali, against a surety of Rs 100,000 in a major bank robbery case. The court, however, rejected the bail application of other accused in September 2 robbery at Habib Bank (Saddar) and adjourned the proceedings till October 18.
Among three accused, Shah Waliullah managed to dodge the police following which the police arrested his father Zarwali. Zarwali filed an application in the court, stating that the IO tortured him and even threatened him with dire consequences.
Upon hearing Zarwali’s plea the court got annoyed and ordered the IO to submit Zarwali’s medical report on the next date of hearing. The accused had allegedly robbed the bank of cash and valuables worth millions of rupees by cutting the lockers through gas- powered welding equipment.
