Islamabad: 5 members of robbers’ gang arrested
ISLAMABAD: The Margalla Police arrested five members of a gang of robbers and recovered firearms from their possession, police said Wednesday. The Margalla Police received an information that about seven suspected persons were present in a vegetation growth in front of Noori Hospital near G-8 Markaz. Upon receiving the information ASP (Saddar Circle) Farrukh Rasheed constituted a team led by SHO Margalla Inspector Malik Naeem Iqbal, SI Muhammad Shafique and other police officials to conduct a surprise raid.
The team cordoning off the area raided the tip-off place and arrested five suspects including three Afghan nationals and two Pakistanis, while others managed to escape from the scene, police said.
Arrested suspects are identified as Muhammad Ishtiaq, son of Muhammad Rafique, resident of District Azad Kashmir; Rehmatullah, son of Ghulam Sarwar, resident of Tehsil Kohuta, District Rawalpindi; Usman Ali, son of Said Ali, resident of Noor, Jalalabad, Afghanistan; Shafique–ur–Rehman, son of Habib-ur-Rehman, resident of Jalalabad, Afghanistan, and Muhammad Ibrahim, son of Hayatullah, resident of Jalalabad, Afghanistan. The police recovered loaded pistols from their possession.
During the initial interrogation, the suspects confessed committing number of dacoities in various area of the capital city. The police, however, have registered a case against the gangsters under section 399/402 PPC, and AO–13/20/65 and 14 Foreign Act against the Afghan national for staying illegally in Pakistan.
