Hyderabad: Kidnappers arrested with ransom money
HYDERABAD: The District Police Officer (DPO), Ghulam Nabi Memon, said on Thursday evening that police had arrested five people involved in kidnapping director general (designs), Highways Department, Munawar Junejo, and recovered the ransom money of over Rs 3.6 million from them. Addressing a news conference, the police official said three police teams had been formed to nab the culprits involved in kidnapping of Munawar Junejo on 24th August from Mosa Khatian area.
He said the police decided that the abductee should be recovered safely and later arrested two culprits — Manzoor Magsi and Ghulam Hyder Brohi — on the highway along with the car involved in the kidnapping.
He said Shaukat Magsi and two others had also been arrested for involvement in the kidnapping. However, the DPO did not mention the actual amount paid to the kidnappers as ransom for Munawar Junejo’s release, who reached his home on 15th September 2008.
Meanwhile, Hali Road police on Thursday recovered the body of Muhammad Yusuf Pathan from stagnant water near Badin bus stand and shifted it to Liaquat University Hospital for post–mortem. The deceased worked as cleaner at the bus stand. No case has been lodged till the filing of this report.
