Islamabad: 4 gangs busted in Tarnol
ISLAMABAD: The Tarnol Police Thursday busted four rackets of criminals and arrested 11 gangsters and also recovered looted cash, snatched vehicles, firearms and mobile phones worth millions of rupees from them, police said. The gang was active in Islamabad as well as Punjab and NWFP and used to leave the place after committing the crimes to other provinces. SSP Islamabad Captain Ahmad Latif had assigned the task to SP (West) Nasir Aftab to arrest the criminals who formed a team under the supervision of ASP (Sadar Circle) Farrukh Rasheed conducted the raid at tipped off places and arrested 11 criminals including a female.
A gang comprising Mujahid Shah, Muhammad Yousaf, Iqbal–ud–Din residents of Mardan had booked a vehicle (IDH–1616) on August 11, 2008 and later snatched it at gunpoint from the driver at Bhadana Link Road. The police also recovered Rs11,000 and mobile phones from them.
The other gang members were identified as Nargis Kanwal and Sher Jan who had snatched a Shahzore (IDS–1336) after holding the driver at gunpoint near Sangjani. The Tarnol Police, however, arrested the bandits and recovered the vehicle. Shah Muhammad, Javed Iqbal alias Papoo, Khuram Shehzad and Rehmat Gul were arrested red–handed while hitting a house in Tarnol. The police also arrested two gangsters, Zaheer Abbass and Talib Hussain, and recovered a snatched Shahzore (RIS–3227) from them.
