Lahore: 123 cars, 153 bikes recovered in 4 months
LAHORE: Anti Vehicles Lifting Staff claimed to have recovered 123 cars and 153 motorcycles during the last four months and arrested 645 proclaimed offenders, court absconders and history-sheeters. A comprehensive crackdown was launched against cars lifters and motorcycle thieves under the supervision of SP Crime Review Officer (CRO) Jahanzeb Nazir Khan and two special teams were constituted to nab the criminals. Anti–Vehicles Lifting Staff (AVLS) submitted 141 complete challans and recovered 123 lifted cars while Anti–Motorcycle Lifting Staff (AMCLS) submitted 183 complete challans in the court and recovered 153 motorcycles. The SP CRO also launched a crackdown against drugs pushers and recovered 15 mounds of charas and 28 kg opium.
The special teams conducted several raids in different areas in the provincial metropolis and recovered four cars from May, 01 2008 to August 31, 2008 while a truck was also recovered during this period. AVLS also arrested three criminals of attempt-murder, three dacoities, 25 car theft, miscellaneous 24, 44 physical and 11 rob car.
SP CRO Jahanzeb Nazir said special crackdown was underway against the car and bike lifters on the special directions of CCPO Pervaiz Rathore. The CCPO has announced cash prizes and commendatory certificates for the teams of AVLS and AMCLS.
