Police arrest criminals in Nawabshah, recover arms
NAWABSHAH: Police on Friday said it had arrested three criminals near the National Highway and claimed to have recovered a large quantity of illegal weapons from their possession. It also said six other criminals had managed to flee. The accused include Dost Ali Khosa, Ghulam Nabi and Juma Brohi. The police recovered two Kalashnikovs, one 222 rifle, a gun and a rifle of different calibres, one 30–bore pistol and several rounds.
Meanwhile, more than 1,300 employees of the Population Welfare Department and the Basic Health Centres took out a rally and staged a demonstration in front of the office of the district Nazim and the Nawabshah Press Club to protest against the non-payment of their salaries for the past two months. They chanted slogans on the occasion.
Meanwhile, the main road connecting Nawabshah to the National Highway is still under-construction and it seems as if the construction of this important road has been shelved. Area residents have complained that dust continues to fly round-the-clock, causing serious problems to asthma patients while school going children are facing difficulties in crossing the road during school hours.
