Karachi: Afreen Beg murder case
KARACHI: The hearing in the murder case of famous artiste Afreen Beg could not be held on Saturday because the Additional District and Sessions Judge, South, Sultan Mohammed Awan, was absent. The next date of hearing was fixed for October 11. Baig, a TV artiste and producer, was killed at her DHA residence in October 2004 allegedly by her driver, Mohammad Bux Umrani, and his wife, Zahida. Her husband, Farooq Mengal, is alleged to have masterminded the murder. Umrani and his wife, who was working as a maid at Mengal’s house, are the co–accused in the case.
Hearing put off in rape case: Additional and District and Session Judge Aftab Ahmed Bhoyo deferred the hearing in the gang rape case of a women in the vicinity of Quaid’s mausoleum till October 11, as the victim did not appear in the court.
Razia Kubra, an 18–year–old woman of Lodhran was gang raped on the premises of Mazar-e–Quaid allegedly by some employees on March 9, when she visited the mausoleum with her family members.
Three persons, Khadim Hussain, Raja Arif and Mazar Arif Ansar were arrested after DNA report confirmed their involvement and through identification parade that was conducted in the court.
