Lahore: Rape accused to undergo medical examination
LAHORE: Additional District and Sessions Judge Qamar Ijaz has directed two policemen to get potency test of Zubair, accused of raping a seven–year–old girl, to determine whether he is able to commit rape or not. The judge issued the order on Saturday after Dr Abid Hussain of the Tehsil Headquarters Hospital, Muridke, submitted that he had got specimen of Zubair’s semen and sent it to the Mayo Hospital, Lahore, for potency test. However, the public prosecutor submitted that no result of the test was received by the police and specimen might have been misplaced.
On this, the judge deputed ASI Anwar and SI Muhammad Akram, a trainee of the Police College, Sihala, to get a new potency test of the accused till Sept 27.
The judge was holding trial of rape accused Zubair who, according to prosecution, raped seven–year–old Tayyaba on March 11, 2008, with abetment of Talha, Muzammal and Muzaffar.
So far eight prosecution witnesses, including the victim and her mother, had recorded their statements.
A panel comprising Free Legal Assistance and Settlement chairman Sheikh Anis AA Saadi, Mian Bashir Saif and Imran Ali voluntarily appeared before the court for the victim.
