Karachi: Mob caught 2 bandits
KARACHI: Two bandits were caught by a mob in Saudabad and badly beaten up. Eyewitnesses said that the two bandits broke into a utility store near Naday Ali Pulliya in the Saudabad police limits and took the customers and staff hostage at gunpoint. The bandits collected cash and cellphones from customers and also took Rs25,000 from the cash counter of the store and tried to flee on a motorbike. Meanwhile, the customers started shouting “Chor Chor” following which, passersby started chasing the bandits.
The mob threw stones at the fleeing bandits and shot at them. One of the bandits was wounded, and fell off the bike. The enraged people got hold of the bandits and beat them up brutally with fists and iron rods. Later, they poured kerosene oil over them to torch them. However, the area police reached the spot and saved the bandits from the clutches of the mob.
The police identified the bandits as Abdul Samad and Nasir. The former was injured when people shot at the pair while they were trying to flee. Two TT pistols were seized, but no looted items were recovered from them. Further investigation is underway.
