Lakki Marwat: 1 gets death sentence
LAKKI MARWAT: Additional Sessions Judge Lakki Mehmoodul Hasan Khattak Saturday convicted a murder accused and awarded him life term imprisonment after finding him guilty of killing his wife. The court also awarded three years rigorous imprisonment and a fine of Rs5,000 to the accused Amir Nawaz for possessing illegal weapons while in case of default the accused will undergo one-month imprisonment. The sources said Amir Nawaz stabbed to death his wife over a domestic dispute in Mir Azam Michenkhel village in the jurisdiction of Dadiwala Police Station on January 22, 2005.
Local police put the case before the court of additional sessions judge for trial at the completion of investigation. “During the proceeding the prosecution succeeded to prove the case against the accused upon which the court of Additional Sessions Judge Mehmoodul Hasan Khattak convicted the accused Amir Nawaz under section 302 of Pakistan Penal Code (PPC) and sentenced him to life imprisonment,” sources said.
Road inaugurated: The Awami National Party district chapter President Sadruddin, advocate, inaugurated a newly constructed Mammakhel link road Saturday. NWFP Chief Minister Amir Haider Khan Hoti has approved the road project for the area on the request of ANP’s lady member provincial assembly from the district, Yasmeen Zia, which was completed at a total cost of Rs1.794 million under NWFP Emergency Rehabilitation Programme (NERP).
Deputy Director Works and Services Department Abdul Qayyum Khan, Sub Engineer Inayatullah Khan, ANP’s tehsil Naurang chapter President Malik Ali Server, Deputy General Secretary Haji Mamraiz, Sahibzada Ibne Yameen, Malik Sher Afzal and contractor Khursheed were also present on the occasion.
Sadruddin said the present government would provide special funds for spreading a farm to market road network in the district.
He said the backward and deprived areas of the district would be provided equal opportunities of development, and all out efforts will be made to provide basic necessities of life to the area people near the homes.
