Islamabad: NH&MP foil a bid to rob bus
ISLAMABAD: National Highway and Motorway Police (NH&MP) have saved bus passengers from being looted after an exchange of firing with accused on Grand Trunk Road near Khanewal. According to a press statement issued on Monday, the bus (LRO–4615) was going from Multan to Lahore with 41 passengers on the board. The moment NH&MP had filmed the passengers and crew near Khanewal, five people impersonating passengers disarmed guard of the bus and one of them took over the bus after kicking out its driver.
The bus conductor called in the NH&MP through helpline 130 when the passengers were being robbed. On receiving the information, the NH&MP rushed to the scene. Later, both the police and the accused resorted to firing for a while. However, the accused escaped in the darkness of night without looting anyone.
