Lahore: Alleged killers of 8 held
LAHORE: CIA Iqbal Town Police have arrested 10 proclaimed offenders, who had killed eight of a family in Gujjarpura and recovered illicit weapons from them. It was revealed by SSP Investigation Zulfiqar Hameed during a press conference held at Investigation Headquarters Qila Gujjar Singh on Monday. Bao Azeem Group and Shaukat Koni Wala Group of Gujjarpura area were rivals for the last three years after the murder of one Bao Azeem.
Azeem party suspected Koni party in the killing of Bao Azeem and killed Sabir and Mansha of Koni Group after which a case No 112/06 was registered in Gujjarpura police station. After the registration of case against Boa Group, its members namely Rafi alias Feeqa Dhoor Patt and Afzal etc arrested Umair, Ashiq and Liaquat of Koni Group in police uniform and killed them over which another case No 311/06 was registered with the same police. Bao Group also killed hired assassin in Muridke, Sheikhupura to hide the evidences against criminals.
Later, around 15 members of Bao Group killed Azam Ali, Shaukat Ali and Muhammad Amin with sophisticated weapons in current year over which a case No 380/08 was registered against the criminals.
Over the gruesome killing of three persons of Koni Group, the families and relatives of deceased persons brought the dead bodies in front of Governor House and blocked the traffic on The Mall for more than 4 hours. Chief Minister Dost Muhammad Khosa by the then visited the Governor House and gave a task to the CCPO Pervaiz Rathore for the immediate arrest of hardened criminals. A special team comprising DSP CIA Iqbal Town Zafar Iqbal Dogar was constituted to arrest the killers. The police team managed to trace out the killers and arrested its 10 members. Punjab Government had also announced Rs 500,000 head money of the criminals including Rafiq alias Feeqa after the gruesome killing of three members of Koni Group. The police team claimed to have recovered 4 rifles of 44 bore, one of 222, a pump action and 50 bullets.
