Lahore: Pre-arrest bail of murder accused cancelled
LAHORE: The Lahore High Court has cancelled the pre–arrest bails of two accused involved in a case of attempting murder of a local journalist. Accused Majid Bhatti and Shahid Bhatti had filed appeal against the order of an additional district & sessions judge wherein their pre arrest bails were rejected. The court while dismissing the bail applications observed, Apparently there is no evidence of ulterior motive or sign of malafide on part of the complainant. Thus this bail application is dismissed. Aftab Ahmad Bajwa extended arguments on behalf of the complainant. After the cancellation of bails, the accused had escaped from the court of the additional and sessions judge and filed appeal in the Lahore High Court.
The accused had shot and injured Kashif Latif outside the main gate of the Lahore Press Club two months ago. Man freed from illegal police custody: district and Sessions Judge Syed Nasir Ali Shah on Monday freed a man after recovering him from the illegal custody of the Township Police Station.
The recovery orders were issued on a habeas corpus petition filed by the detainee’s mother Akhtar Parveen, a resident of Kot Lakhpat. The petitioner stated that the police was keeping her son Waseem Akbar in their illegal custody for last 17 days.
The court bailiff went to the police station where he found Akbar handcuffed in the investigation lockup though no case was registered against him. He said the victim was badly tortured by the police.
