Lahore: Anti-car lifting SI arrested for taking bribe
LAHORE: The Anti–Corruption Establishment, in a trap raid, arrested Anti–Car Lifting Sub–Inspector (SI) Mushtaq Ahmad for taking gratification. According to a handout, Zulfiqar Ali, resident of Attoke Awan, Batapur lodged a complaint with Anti–Corruption Establishment (ACE) Director General Tariq Salim Dogar that Ahmad had taken his van into custody from Garhi Shahu and demanded Rs 50,000 as gratification for its clearance.
After receiving Rs 40,000 as gratification, the accused returned the vehicle to Ali. Ahmad demanded the remaining amount, failing which he threatened dire consequences to the complainant.
The ACE DG ordered that the SI be caught red-handed, following which ACE Circle Officer (Lahore) Tariq Maqsood Dhilon conducted a raid under the supervision of Judicial Magistrate Muhammad Tariq Qureshi. The raiding team arrested Mushtaq Ahmad from a hotel near the offices of the Anti–Car Lifting Squad, Gulberg when he was receiving Rs 10,000 from the complainant. The raiding team, after recovering the marked currency notes, registered a case.
