5 held, 4 houses destroyed in Darra
KOHAT: Security forces arrested five suspected militants and destroyed four houses in Akhurwal area of Darra Adamkhel on Tuesday. Kohat District Coordination Officer (DCO) Siraj Ahmad, who is also the political agent of FR Kohat, told The News that security forces had rounded up five local militants — Hazrat Noor, Fayyaz Afridi, Allah Dost, Muhammad Dost and Zafar Alam — from Akhurwal area of semi-tribal town of Darra Adamkhel. He claimed the arrested militants, who were experts in bomb making and rocket firing, were involved in rocket attacks on Spina Thana, Kohat and other areas.
The official also said that the Indus Highway near Darra was now completely safe for traffic and soon the situation would further improve. “All displaced people are now coming back to their homes in Darra,” he claimed.
Meanwhile, a security official namely Akram was killed and Rahmanuddin, Muzamil Shah, Ibrar and Allah Dad were injured when Darra Adamkhel-based militants targeted the Spina Thana FC post with rockets. The injured were shifted to the Combined Military Hospital, Peshawar, because of their precarious condition.
The spokesman for the Darra militants, Muhammad, claimed to have kidnapped the Polish engineer from Attock area. He said if the government set free their arrested accomplices, the engineer would be released. He also demanded complete halt to the US air strikes in the tribal areas and Afghanistan for release of the Polish engineer.
