Peshawar: US national remanded in police custody for 2 days
PESHAWAR: An American national arrested by the law–enforcement agencies was remanded in police custody for two days after he was produced before a local court in Charsadda on Friday. The Charsadda Police arrested Jawad Ali aka Judi Kenan, 20, on Monday when he was entering the Mohmand Agency through Yakaghund without prior permission. Police asked the court that they wanted to know as to why he was travelling to Mohmand Agency. Therefore, they need his custody, which the court allowed and handed over the bearded young American, clad in traditional Pakistan dress, to the police for two days. He was produced before the judge amid tight security.
The detainee, whose father belongs to Mariamzai village and married an American woman in Florida during his stay there, is said to have settled in Mariamzai for the past several years while his parents are still abroad. Two of his sisters are also in Pakistan. Mariamzai is a village located close to the volatile Matani and Badaber towns on the Peshawar–Kohat Road.
