Lahore: Arrest warrants issued for SI in rape case
LAHORE: Additional District and Sessions Judge Qamar Ijaz on Saturday issued arrest warrants for a sub–inspector (SI), Muhammad Akram, for not appearing before the court in a rape case. The judge had directed the SI to inform the court about the potency test of the accused, but he did not turn up on which the judge issued his arrest warrants and directed the police to produce him in court on October 25.
The judge was holding the trial of one Zubair, involved in the rape of seven–year–old Tayyeba. According to prosecution, the accused raped Tayyaba with abetment of Talha, Muzammal and Muzaffar on March 11, 2008. Free Legal Assistance and Settlement Chairman Anis AA Saadi advocate, Mian Bashir Saif, Imran Ali and Mirza Aslam are voluntarily contesting the case on behalf of the victim.
