Rawalpindi: ATC acquits three alleged kidnappers
RAWALPINDI: The Anti–Terrorism Court (ATC) No II on Monday acquitted three people accused of kidnapping a boy for ransom, as the complainant had failed to recognise the accused. The court headed by Judge Sakhi Muhammad Kahoot was hearing the case against Muhammad Mehtab, Ubaidur Rehman and Shabir Ahmad, who were accused of kidnapping a six–year–old boy Hamza Sultan and extorting Rs 50,0000 from his parents as a ransom. The case against the accused was registered with the Taxila Police. Meanwhile, the ATC No I sent a man accused of firing at police on a four-day physical remand in the custody of the Chakwal Saddar Police, adjourning the hearing till October 24. Judge Chaudhary Habibur Rehman sent Afsar Ali Khan on a four–day physical remand. The police had sought a five–day physical remand of the accused to arrest his accomplices and to further investigate the case.
