Lahore: Former MNA arrested in land fraud case
LAHORE: The Anti–corruption Establishment (ACE) on Thursday arrested a former parliamentarian for alleged involvement in a land fraud in Mustafabad, officials told Daily Times. Muhammad Shahbaz, a citizen, complained to Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif in an open court that a case had been registered against Muhammad Asif in 2007 for allegedly selling government land worth Rs 10 billion in connivance with officials of Lahore Development Authority.
The citizen alleged that the former MNA had not been arrested so far. On the orders of the CM, a team of ACE officials arrested Asif from Old Anarkali. LDA Director (Planning) Qari Masood, Senior Clerk Abdul Hafeez, a record keeper and another official Abdul Rasheed have also been nominated in the case, but are still at large.
