Islamabad: Man sentenced to death for killing wife
ISLAMABAD: District and Sessions Judge Mirza Rafi–uz–Zaman, Monday awarded death sentence and a fine of Rs1 lakh to a person, Rafaqat Mahmood, for murdering wife, and acquitted two other accused in the case by giving them the benefit of doubt. Rafaqat Mahmood along with his brother Ahsan Mahmood and his father Mubarik Hussain were involved in murder of his (Rafaqat’s) wife. The case was registered against them in the Shilala Police Station, Islamabad, on 1 October 2005 under section 302,109/34.
According to FIR Rafaqat’s wife was living separately because of some dispute between them. Rafaqat along with his father and brother time and again approached her for settlement and asked her to come back home but she was not willing to go back with them.
Rafaqat and his family members attributed this dispute as a matter of their pride, prestige and ego and decided to kill her. One day Rafaqat along with his father and brother killed her when she was working in an agriculture field. The judge awarded death sentence to Rafaqat Mahmood after finding him guilty and acquitted Ahsan Mahmood and Mubarik Hussain by giving them the benefit of doubt.
