Lahore: 2 inter-provincial gangs busted
LAHORE: The Crime Investigation Agency (CIA) arrested 29 members of two inter-provincial gangs involved in various incidents of robberies, cash and motorcycle snatching, said Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP–Investigation) Zulfiqar Hamid at a press conference at Qilla Gujjar Singh Investigation Headquarters on Tuesday. He said the officials had also seized stolen cars, motorcycles, cash, mobile phones, a truck and illegal weapons from them.
During preliminary interrogation, he said, the criminals had confessed to 79 such crimes in Lahore, Jhelum, Sheikhupura, Rawalpindi, Mansehra, Peshawar, Abbotabad, Islamabad, Gujrat and Haripur. Members of the Snatcher Gang used to commit crime in police uniform, he added. He said the CIA officials had also seized four trucks, three cars, Rs 1.7 million in cash, 23 motorcycles, 30 mobile phones, two police uniforms, a pump action, a .244 bore rifle, 21 pistols and 101 bullets from them. The CCPO has announced cash prizes and commendatory certificates for the raiding team.
