Gang of kidnappers unearthed in Mardan
PESHAWAR: The Mardan Police have claimed unearthing of an organised gang of kidnappers and recovery of 16 kidnapped persons from their captivity by arresting outlaws in several raids from various parts of the district. Hisamuddin, who was kidnapped on February 2 was recovered by Saddar Police Station from the residence of one Ghareeb Shah, who disclosed the names of Khair Mohammad, Niaz Mohammad, Jamroz, son of Azam Khan of Mohallah Dagaikhel, Nowshera as accomplices.
Nawabzada through his woman accomplice, Ulfat, had called Sajjad, son of Mohammad Islam, through her mobile phone number to a house where another criminal Riaz was already waiting for them on 28 December, 2007. They took Sajjad in a car bearing registration No 4902 and kept him in the residence of Sazor Rehman till February 13, 2008.
The accused demanded Rs8 million as ransom but Hoti Police Station arrested, Rahman Gul, son of Usman Gul of village Dargai, Ikram Syed, son of Chari Gul and forced the criminals to release the kidnapped person without any ransom.
In its report, Mardan police said a taxi driver, Noorul Islam, had lodged a report with Lund Khwar police station on March 17,2008 that Amjad alias Khattak hired his car for Mardan but on the way near Midway hotel, he was intoxicated.
Later he found himself in a closed-door room. The criminals demanded ransom money Rs1 million but later they let the kidnapped person free in the forest of Kalu Shah in the jurisdiction of Lund Khwar Police Station.
On April 13, 2008, Arif Mohammad lodged a report with the city police station that some unidentified accused had kidnapped his father Khalid Mehmood and later demanded ransom. Police recovered Khalid Mehmood and arrested one Fateh Mohammad.
On a tip-off on May 1, 2008, Sher Garh police raided a house and recovered Mir Alam, son of Ikram Khan of village Chamtar and arrested Ikram Syed, son of Cheeri Gul of village Wartair, Dargai, Amir alias Aamir, son of Mian Jan of Khan Ghari of Urmar Bala, Peshawar. Their alleged accomplices, including Riaz of Wartair, Dargai, Sazor Rehman and Ms Ulfat Begum, daughter of Sher Zaman of village Mirza Korona, Takhtbhai were already wanted in serious cases to Hoti police.
On May 12, 2008, Fazal Hafeez of Moti Banda, Lund Khwar reported against Afzal Khan of Jangha, Wali Rehman of Faqir village Latafay, Sakha Kot for demanding
Rs1 million extortion money but the police arrested the accused.
On May 27,2008, Nasrullah of Ghala Dher reported in Sheikh Maltoon Police Station that four persons bundled him into a car but the sudden arrival of police foiled their attempt and arrested Liaqat of village Bala Marai.
The police also recovered people kidnapped from Punjab, including Mohammad Bhutta, son of Mohamamd Khalil of Syed Abad, Punjab, Mukhtiar son of Abdur Rehman of Jhang, Punjab and arrested criminals including women who were demanding Rs10 million. They were kept in chain.
The police arrested Faqir Gul, Mohsin, Ms Gul Nasiba, Sher Behadar and recovered kidnapped persons, who had reported in Lund Khwar Police Station on May 3,2008. After an encounter, the Lund Khwar police recovered a student of 6th class, whose father had reported on September 16,2008 and arrested Zahid Hussain, Bashir and Izat Gul.
