Peshawar: 14 kidnappers held as operation continues
PESHAWAR: Police have so far arrested at least 14 kidnappers and razed several houses of such elements during the ongoing crackdown it had launched against kidnappers on Thursday, officials said on Friday. Senior Superintendent Police (SSP) Operations Kashif Alam told Daily Times that police had arrested at least 14 kidnappers during the past two days and also demolished house of another ‘notorious kidnapper’ Nouroz here on Friday while he himself is still at large.
He said that the police were combing the areas where operation was conducted on Thursday and the operation would continue till the middle of November.
SP City Chaudary Ashraf told Daily Times that the operation would continue till achievement of its goals. He said that the police have arrested a kidnapper who has identified the gang involved in Thursday’s kidnapping of the son of a local flourmills’ owner. He said that police are working against different gangs of the kidnappers in the city.
He said that the police had taken action against notorious gangs on Thursday, but there are smaller gangs as well which have links with the gangs operating in Mardan and Sakhakot. Police are trying to sever links among the criminals.
The operation against kidnappers was launched in the city after some unidentified people shot dead driver of Aftab Flourmills’ owner in the limits of Chamkani Police Station and kidnapped his son, while injuring his minor daughter and a guard on Thursday.
