Rawalpindi: Hand grenades seized from dumper
RAWALPINDI: The city police on Saturday arrested 11 alleged criminals and seized four hand grenades, nine pistols and 47 rounds from them in different incidents. Wah Cantonment police recovered four hand grenades from a dumper during search near Bahbra village and arrested Orangzeb, Younus and Nazir, who were on board, while Muhammad Iqbal managed to flee. Police officials told Daily Times different police stations arrested Ashraf, Majid, Abdul Jaleel, Alyas, Ali Shan, Sohail, Khawar and Sardar Muhammad on suspicion of their involvement in crimes and recovered nine illicit pistols and 47 rounds from them.
Meanwhile, Pirwadhi police arrested six alleged gamblers from two places and seized over Rs 8,000 and two mobile phones from them. Zubair, Rafiq, Shafqat and Tanveer were arrested from a gambling den in Ziaulhaq Colony and Orangzeb and Javid Khan from Qaidabad.
Two cars were lifted, a house burgled and a woman mugged elsewhere in the city. Nasir Muhammad informed RA Bazaar police that his car had been lifted from parking lot of Family Clinic. Jamsheed Ahmad lodged a complaint with Cantonment Police Station that his car was lifted from the front of Railway Club.
Asma Naveed told New Town police that unidentified muggers had snatched his purse carrying Rs 2000 and gold jewellery.
Zahid Usman lodged a complaint with Saddar Barroni Police Station that robbers broke into his house and made off with gold jewellery, Rs 0.570 million and a DVD player. The cases have been registered and investigation was underway.
