Karachi: Arms case hearing against Afaq Ahmed adjourned
KARACHI: The hearing of arms case against Chairman MQM (Haqiqi) Afaq Ahmed was adjourned till November 15 due to the transfer of the judge. In the previous hearing Afaq Ahmed, who is facing two cases registered by Landhi police, recorded his statement before the Additional District and Sessions Judge (East) Abdul Rahman Bhatti who was conducting the trial inside the central prison. Final arguments were to be recorded on Tuesday.
According to details, two suspects booked u/s 13–D of the Arms Ordinance told the police during interrogation that Afaq Ahmed called them in Defence Housing Authority and gave them arms and explosives, directing them to store the same at a place in Landhi area.
Police had registered two cases (FIRs 104/2005 and 105/2005) against Afaq Ahmed under section 13–E (a person has in his possession or under his control any arms, ammunition or military stores in contravention of the provision of section 9) of the Arms Ordinance-1965 and sections 4 & 5 of the Explosive Act. In the last hearing, five witnesses were produced, including three policemen.
