Rawalpindi: Arrest warrants issued for 2 cops
RAWALPINDI: Additional District and Sessions Judge Ghulam Mehdi Khan on Wednesday issued arrest warrants for two cops, including a lady police constable, for not appearing before the court in response to a petition filed by a citizen. The bailable arrest warrants were issued for Taskeen Qamar and her husband, Sub–Inspector (SI) Muhammad Ramzan of Banni Police Station, against Rs 20,000 surety bond. They were also directed to appear before the court on November 11.
Muhammad Ali Shah, a citizen, filed a petition with the judge on October 18, claiming that he had lent Rs 8,500 to the couple to help them meet some need. The petitioner accused the police personnel of not returning the debt and threatening his family with dire consequences.
He requested that station house officer (SHO) of Civil Lines Police Station be directed to provide him with security. The court directed the two cops to appear before it on November 6, but they didn’t, precipitating the court to issue their arrest warrants.
