Karachi: Haqiqi men booked for killing MQM activist
KARACHI: The Mominabad police on Thursday registered a case against four workers of the Mohajir Qaumi Movement–Haqiqi (MQM–H) party for murdering a Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) worker. MQM senior worker Akram Kana died in a target killing on Wednesday at Al–Sadaf Chowk, Orangi Town No 10, within the jurisdiction of Mominabad Police Station. FIR 432/08 was registered on behalf of the deceased’s brother, Abdul Rasheed, against four men, Mustafa, Zafar, Khushnood Butt and one unidentified man. “The nominated men are affiliated with MQM-H,” said DSP Ramzan Gopang. The DSP quoted Rasheed who said that the nominated men targeted his brother and fled. The police have launched raids to arrest the culprits, the DSP said.
The funeral prayers were offered near Kana’s house. He was then laid to rest at Al–Fatah graveyard, Orangi Town. Heavy contingents of law enforcers were deployed in the area to prevent potential riots. Shops were closed and tension prevailed in the area, but no major incident was reported.
