Karachi: Passenger held with foreign currency
KARACHI: The Special Task Force (STF) of Pakistan Customs intercepted another Pakistani passenger at the Karachi airport on Saturday night while he was leaving for Singapore and recovered 38,000 Singaporean dollars from his possession. According to a Customs spokesman, Karachi-based passenger Ghulam Raza was about to board Cathay Pacific Airlines flight CX–2700 that was scheduled to depart at midnight from Karachi airport. Searching his handbag, Customs officials recovered foreign currency that was concealed in garments and stationary. A case would be registered against the passenger by customs for attempting to smuggle foreign currency from the country. The STF had earlier caught a Pakistani departing for Dubai from the airport for attempting to smuggle 71,000 Dirhams from Pakistan.
