Lahore: Mehsud’s close relative held
LAHORE: Law–enforcement agencies on Monday claimed to have arrested two terror suspects and recovered one explosives jacket, three pistols, two hand grenades, foreign currency and maps of the provincial metropolis from their possession. Intelligence agency sources said an investigation team of the law–enforcement agencies from Rawalpindi raided a flat in the Kotlakhpat police station area near the Phatak bus stop on Sunday night and arrested a close relative of Baitullah Mehsud, Hafiz Irfan Ullah Mehsud, and one Qari Ameer Gul of Afghanistan. The sources said the suspects were arrested when one of their unidentified accomplices visited a prisoner in the Central Jail, Kotlakhpat. They said the investigators were chasing the suspects and arrested them in the wee hours.
The raiding team took the suspects to Rawalpindi. The sources said the presence of Hafiz Irfan Ullah Mehsud could be considered enough for a possible massive destruction in Lahore. Meanwhile, Senior Superintendent of Police (Operations) Chaudhry Shafiq Gujjar said that he had no information about the arrest of the suspects.
