Nowshera: Dacoits loot 41 passengers
NOWSHERA: A gang of eight armed dacoits looted a passenger bus on GT Road in the wee hours of Monday and deprived passengers of cash, mobiles and other valuables. The Peshawar-bound passenger bus (LES–8003) started its journey from Lahore at 10 p.m and reached Daggai, Pabbi at 3:30 a.m where it was waylaid by a group of eight masked dacoits who had already blocked the road by putting trunks of the trees on it. The gang forced the driver Alam at gunpoint to move towards Aurang Abad Kanday Tazadeen where they embarked on looting spree, depriving 41 passengers of 1.3 million cash, 26 mobiles, precious watches and other valuables. The gang also deprived the women of their jewellery.
The victims alleged the connivance of the driver in the robbery, as he remained engaged on his mobile phone telling someone about his exact location and direction. The passengers also said they were charged fare for the Motorway but driver left the Motorway near Burhan Interchange and opted for GT Road where the armed gang was waiting. The passengers asked driver to go to police station after the incident but he tried to dodge them by driving the vehicle towards Peshawar.
