Karachi: 4 suspects sent to jail
KARACHI: The Administrative Judge (AJ) of the Anti–Terrorism Courts (ATCs) in Karachi sent four suspects, including a woman facing kidnapping for ransom charges, to jail and directed the investigation officers to submit charge sheet against them. Salman Qureshi, Ms Laiba, Imran Ahsan and Zubair are charged with kidnapping the builder’s son, Khurrum Javed, for ransom from Gulistan-e–Johar on October 19. The police said that the accused had received Rs 1 million as ransom from the abductee’s family and released him on October 26 after keeping him detained for one week.
The suspects are also involved in another kidnapping for ransom case. Police alleged that the accused kidnapped Talha Siddiqui for ransom from Gulistan-e-Johar on November 2. Police said the accused demanded Rs 20 million as ransom from the abductee’s family. However, they were arrested and the abductee was recovered from their possession.
The AJ also directed the investigation officer to submit charge sheet against two suspects in kidnapping for ransom case.
Mohammad Shahzad and Mohammad Asif are charged with kidnapping a boy Ubair Kashif from Joharabad on November 4. Police arrested Shahzad and recovered the abductee. Police alleged that the accused received Rs 400,000 as ransom from the abductee’s family. The AJ sent the suspect Mohammad Asif, who was arrested by the police later, to jail.
